Although they bear a striking resemblance, red anemones and poppies are not the same flower. Anemones come from the Ranunculaceae family, while poppies come from the Papaveraceae flowering plant family. While technically different, they are both equally stunning and a favorite of DIYers and brides. There are many ways to incorporate red anemones into your bouquets and centerpieces. One of our favorites is using them to create a rustic look. Combine them with Billy balls, hypericum berries, thistle, and Queen Anne’s lace. For a more dramatic flair, accent your anemone bouquet with hanging red or green amaranthus. They also look stunning when grouped in bunches on their own. They are a unique alternative to red roses, yet provide an equally romantic feel. When hosting an event in the spring, consider designing a whimsical design that includes red anemones, mini white daisies and lots of light filler such as bupleurum. Keep the overall look casual by completing the bouquet or centerpiece with a gingham ribbon.
